Sherman Joseph Alexie Jr. (1966) is een Amerikaanse schrijver van korte verhalen, romans en young adult novels. Zijn achtergrond als Native Indian (Spokane-Coeur d’Alene) heeft hem de inspiratie gegeven om zijn fictie te schrijven. Zo groeide hij op in het reservaat dat hij in zijn beroemde jeugdroman The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian beschrijft.
