BRIAN MOORE

Brian Moore (Belfast, Noord-Ierland, 1921 – Malibu, Californië, 1999) was een productieve romanschrijver en film- en toneelscriptschrijver. Hij was één van de schrijvers die in staat waren om een reëel beeld te geven van Noord-Ierland ten tijde van ‘The Troubles’. Hij was kritisch op zijn vaderland: zowel op de politieke situatie in het land als op de belangrijke rol die de godsdienst daar speelde.
Zijn blijvende aandacht voor Noord-Ierland is opmerkelijk, te meer daar hij al in 1948 naar Canada emigreerde. Een aantal jaren later, in 1966, verhuisde hij naar Californië, waar hij tot aan zijn dood zou blijven wonen.
