PAUL GALLICO

Paul William Gallico (New York City, 1897 – Monaco, 1976) was een Amerikaanse schrijver van romans en korte verhalen. Een aantal van zijn verhalen en romans werd met succes verfilmd.
Gallico stamde af van Italiaans-Oostenrijkse ouders. Hij studeerde af aan de Columbia University in New York en werd daarna sportverslaggever. Na zijn ervaring met non-fictie begon hij in 1938 met het schrijven van fictie en die combinatie – fictie en non-fictie schrijven – zou hij met het nodige succes zijn verdere leven blijven doen.
De meeste van zijn romans zijn avonturenverhalen. Ook schreef hij veel kinderboeken en verhalen over sporthelden.
