Over de Amerikaanse auteur Beverly Sommers is weinig bekend. Soms wordt gezegd dat haar naam een pseudoniem was (van de auteur Joy Freeman), dat ze overleden is, dat ze een multiculturele schrijfster is. Kortom, veel is onduidelijk.
