J.I.M. STEWART / MICHAEL INNES

John Innes Mackintosh Stewart (1906-1994) was een Schotse roman- en verhalenschrijver die schreef onder de namen (pseudoniemen) Michael Innes en J.I.M. Stewart. Onder zijn eigen naam schreef hij voornamelijk literaire kritieken, onder zijn pseudoniem waren het met name misdaadromans en –verhalen.
John Stewart werd in 1906 in Edinburgh geboren, waar hij later ook studeerde. Hij studeerde af aan de universiteit van Oxford en studeerde daarna psychoanalyse aan de universiteit van Wenen. Hij was professor in Leeds (Engeland), in Adelaide (Australië), Belfast (Noord-Ierland) en Oxford (Engeland). John Stewart overleed in 1994 in Londen.
