MARY DOWNING HAHN

Mary Downing Hahn is een schrijfster van young adult novels. Ms Hahn werd in 1937 geboren in de staat Maryland in de USA, een staat waar ze haar hele leven bleef wonen, eerst met haar ouders en later met haar man en kinderen.
Mary Downing Hahn werkte een aantal jaren als bibliothecaresse voordat ze haar eerste jeugdroman uitbracht (in 1979). Later werd ze fulltime schrijfster. Haar boeken werden populair bij jongeren, onder andere vanwege het feit dat ze veel fantastische (fantasy-) en spookverhalen schrijft: geesten spelen een belangrijke rol in haar romans. Ze zegt daar zelf over dat geesten en spoken in onze verhalen zitten, omdat we daardoor een betere greep op het raadsel van leven en dood krijgen.
