STEPHEN KING

Stephen King (USA, Portland, Maine, 1947) is ongetwijfeld de meest succesvolle horrorschrijver die ooit geleefd heeft: hij heeft honderden miljoenen boeken verkocht, veel van zijn tientallen romans en honderden verhalen zijn verfilmd en hij is een van de meest bekroonde schrijvers. Hij woont (voornamelijk) in zijn geboortestaat Maine, waar veel van zijn verhalen zich ook afspelen. Zijn specialisme is horror, maar King is ook een kenner van literatuur, film, (pop)muziek; kunstvormen die regelmatig in zijn verhalen voorkomen. Zijn belangrijkste werk (volgens hemzelf en veel van zijn lezers) is The Dark Tower-serie, een (tot nu toe) achtdelige serie.
