H.G . WELLS
Herbert George (H.G.) Wells (Bromley, Kent, 1866 – Londen, 1946) was een beroemde Engelse schrijver van met name sciencefictionromans. Eerst werkte hij als journalist; later schreef hij boeken over de wetenschap die hij bestudeerd had, de biologie. Mr Wells debuteerde met korte verhalen. In totaal schreef hij meer dan honderd werken. Hij schreef veel boeken over de gewone Engelsman: de kruidenier, de kantoorbediende, relationele romans vaak over eenvoudige mensen die door het leven scharrelen. Maar zijn bekendheid zal altijd blijven vanwege de beroemde sciencefictionromans die hij schreef waaruit zijn pessimistische kijk op de mensheid en op de wereld bleek. En de beroemdste van die romans is ongetwijfeld The War of the Worlds.
