DEAN KOONTZ

Dean Koontz (1945) werd in Pennsylvania, USA, geboren maar hij woont al heel lang (met vrouw en hond) in Zuid-Californië. Hij had een nare jeugd, met een gewelddadige vader, waardoor Dean wegdroomde in de fictie van de literatuur. Zijn eigen eerste boek kwam uit in 1968. Dean Koontz schreef veel boeken onder een pseudoniem. Hij heeft meer dan 100 titels op zijn naam staan. Zijn genres zijn: suspense, crime, thriller, horror en science fiction. Koontz bekeerde zich tot het christendom (Rooms Katholicisme), hij heeft een duidelijke godsdienstige overtuiging die vaak doorklinkt in zijn verhalen. Wat ook vaak blijkt uit zijn verhalen is dat hij (in ieder geval in de ogen van veel Nederlandse lezers) conservatief denkt (en stemt): zo lijkt hij een voorstander van de doodstraf (‘oog om oog, tand om tand’) en van wapengebruik.
